ABOUT THE COURSE
Spend the day away from it all on this bushcraft-focused day retreat. The course has been designed to give men time away from a PC screen, switch off mobile phones, and get outdoors to enjoy the rhythm of the woods. You will be immersed in the woodland the whole day, taking the time to slow down and destress by tuning into nature. Participants will enjoy a hearty campfire lunch.
The day will start with a walk around the beautiful woodlands at the Sustainability Centre in the South Downs National Park including tree and plant identification, wild foods, and herbal medicine. On our return to base camp, you will explore ways of creating natural cordage using plants found on our walk. After a campfire lunch amongst the trees you can learn about ways of creating a fire using different fire lays. Nick Ward, your instructor, will also demonstrate how to rig a tarp, explore rope work including knots, and rope throwing, and how to apply these new skills in setting up a modern shelter system.
Throughout the day there will be plenty of time to practice these skills at your own pace.
