What is Forest School ?
Forest School is a long term learning process that supports natural holistic development in learners of all ages and abilities. It originates from Scandinavian (particularly Danish) Early Years systems where child-led learning and play in the natural world are actively encouraged. The philosophy of Forest School is deeply rooted in understanding child development, learning and self esteem theories, and applying this understanding to facilitate powerful learning experiences. The repeated contact with a natural space (ideally woodland) is vital to support this process. Learners are empowered to take responsibility for their own learning, and encouraged to develop skills and independence.
We offer Forest School Leader (Level 3) training at our beautiful woodland centre, where we are passionate about outdoor learning and providing high quality training. Forest School is an approach to learning in the outdoors, which offers children, young people and adults regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence through hands-on learning experiences in the natural environment. Come on one of our Taster Days to find out more about Forest School. We also offer CPD courses for Forest School Leaders.
