Learn how to use plants and herbal remedies to improve your health and wellbeing on this highly practical one day course in the Hampshire South Downs. Spend a day learning how to identify and use medicinal herbs growing in our gardens and the wider countryside to detoxify and revitalise the body.
Spring Herb Workshop - Vitamin and mineral-rich herb-infused vinegar, hay fever tea and spring tonic
Explore the remarkable world of wild medicinal herbs which can be found amongst the hedgerows, our gardens and in the grounds of the Sustainability Centre this spring. Not only can we benefit nutritionally from eating wild herbs, they also have amazing health-giving properties too. During the day you will learning to forage safely and sustainably, discovering easy ways to identify a variety of spring herbs and how to tap into each plant to support your health and help stave off seasonal ailments. Foraging is a great way to reconnect with the outdoors and tune out from stresses of modern day living. Being mindful and present as you slowly move through nature’s living medicine cabinet will have a positive effect on your wellbeing. This workshop is very much a hands-on experience, where not only will you get to know all about the herbs we find but you will get to make a variety of remedies to take home with you. You will also receive detailed workshop handouts, recipes and monographs.
Summer Herb Workshop - Herb-infused oils, first aid balm and herbal infusions
Summer not only gifts us with longer, sunnier days but the hedgerows, fields, gardens, and green spaces offer up an abundance of wild medicinal flora and fauna. During the day you will learning to forage safely and sustainably, discovering easy ways to identify a variety of spring herbs and how to tap into each plant to support your health and help stave off seasonal ailments. Discover how to make herb-infused oils and healing balms. Dee will show you the best ways to dry herbs to make a variety of herbal teas and infusions enabling you to fill your teapots throughout the months ahead. This workshop is very much a hands-on experience, where not only will you get to know all about the herbs we find but you will get to make a variety of remedies to take home with you. You will also receive detailed workshop handouts, recipes and monographs.
Autumn Herb Workshop - Preparation is the key for a happy, healthy winter.
Autumn offers us the opportunity to be gathering in the hips, haws, berries and roots that adorn our hedgerows and greenspaces at this time of year. Gifts from nature that enable us to prepare remedies and tonics for the colder months ahead. During the day you will be out and about learning easy ways to identify a variety of autumn herbs whilst learning all about their medicinal/health-giving properties, and how you can use them to support your day-to-day health and well-being as well as preventing and treating seasonal ailments. Oxymels, decoctions and cold and flu fire cider will be some of the remedies and tonics you will make with your foraged bounty.

- The ability to identify a range of medicinal herbs, flowers and leaves.
- Knowledge of the various properties and uses of the medicinal herbs we find.
- Experience in making remedies and tonics to start your own medicine chest.
- You will take home the tonics and remedies you have made plus a detailed handout of the recipes.

ABOUT THE TUTOR
Dee Dade is a Dorset-based life-long hedgerow herbalist who has been teaching others about the wild medicinals growing amongst our green spaces for over 10 years now. She has a deep, rich connection and knowledge of wild herbs and years of experience in creating effective, easy-to-make remedies, tonics, tinctures and teas that support our day-to-day well-being and seasonal ailments. Dee is passionate about sharing this ancient wisdom with others; helping people create and deepen their co-creative relationships with the natural world and the healing plants that grow locally to them, enabling nature to become your medicine chest.
