Portsmouth Beekeepers Association have established an Apiary at the Sustainability Centre. The Apiary has a variety of hive types, and it is intended that beekeepers new and old have the opportunity to review the relative merits of these hive types, gain experience of handling bees and exchange opinions in an informal manner.
The Apiary is being managed by Bob Pendleton, supported by Geoff Piper.
Beekeepers meetings are held monthly on Sunday mornings at 12 noon from April to October, and weekly on Tuesday evenings at 6pm, subject to suitable weather.
Begginners and potential Beekeepers are welcome. Attendees are expected to wear clean suits. A limited number of association suits are available for loan to new members and can be arranged in advance with Bob Pendleton.
Honey proiduced in the Apiary is sold at The Sustainability Centre.
