ABOUT THE COURSE
A one day course spent exploring the spiritual practices of the Celtic Bard: stories, poems, woodland traditions and meditation. This unique course will take you through an in-depth exploration of the trees, plants, landscape and seasons. Discover how woodland traditions and folklore are relevant to our lives today and explore nature-based meditation.
Jonathon Huet will share a rare glimpse into the folklore of woodlands, delving into the old stories of Britain, drawing from Irish, Welsh and English sources.
The day will start with a fire and meditation connecting the participant to the land, and then will continue with an in-depth sharing of knowledge of plants and trees. You will learn a practical approach to nature connection borne from nearly thirty years research into the subject. Discover how concepts of ‘Forest bathing’, ‘Mindfulness’ and deep meditation with the land, are very much entwined in the fabric of our British ancestry.
The day will include poetry and stories from early and late medieval sources which are rooted in ancient lore, as well as Classic sources from the Romantic era of the Nineteenth Century. This later poetry has the ability to also open doorways into understanding even older British traditions.
Practical identification of trees and plants will follow, as well as ethnobotany - the history and use of individual species.
The whole day will be a contemplative tour of woodland folklore, bringing together age-old concepts that are still most relevant today.
