ABOUT THE COURSE
Learn how to weave this stunning willow backpack on this friendly two day course with expert tutor, Amanda Rayner, who is a featured artisan in Kate Humble's book, Home Made. This course is run at our environmental education centre in the Hampshire South Downs.
Depending on your experience, you can choose to make a slightly smaller foraging basket or something a little larger to use for shopping. This open-topped basket is created on a 'D'-shaped base and, after putting on the upsett and bottom wale, you will be shown how to start the rands. Several rounds of randing will gradually build-up the body of the basket, these can be varied using different coloured willow to give a unique look to your basket. After laying a border with the uprights, you will then be ready to join the the shoulder straps (leather or vegan leather) to complete this beautiful and practical basket which you can proudly to wear home!
