ABOUT THE workshop
Join us for a creative day of willow weaving on this fun and friendly course set in the South Downs National Park. Your tutor, Sachiko, will teach you the skills to make two beautiful projects using sustainable willow. In the morning, you will learn to weave a stylish little woven bird and, after lunch, you will be shown how to craft a rustic birdfeeder complete with a wooden base. These two different basic willow weaves are not only beginner-friendly but are also transferable to other willow crafts you might like to try your hand at in the future.

THIS COURSE IS SUITABLE FOR
Suitable for all adults, complete beginners, and those with a little weaving experience. Weaving willow does require some manual dexterity, hand strength and patience. If you have a recent injury or have arthritis in your hands, please check with the courses team before booking at [email protected]
WHAT TO BRING/WEAR
- This workshop will take place indoors
- Wear something comfortable that won’t catch on the willow stems as you weave
- An apron (optional)
- Your packed lunch or buy food from our Beech Cafe
ABOUT THE TUTOR

I have always interested in crafting and making things with my hands. Living in different countries has shaped and influenced my work and taught me many different techniques which I enjoy passing on to others. When I moved to England, I discovered willow and all its possibilities as a crafting medium - I was bitten by the bug! Weaving with the beautifully-varied, natural material of willow fascinated me and sent me on a creative journey; I have been experimenting with a multitude of weaving projects ever since. I can be found on the craft markets in Alton and Alresford and feel privileged to be able to share my passion and enjoyment of willow craft.
