Learn traditional wood carving techniques on this one day course making your own sweet chestnut gate hurdle. Using a shavehore and other traditional hand tools including drawknife, twybil, brace, side axe and hammer, you will learn to create your own hurdles. Your hurdles can be used as a gate opening, part of a fence or simply to add decoration and structure to your garden.
Our tutor will guide you through the process of wood carving from selecting materials to creating the right finish. The course is an excellent progression for those interested in wood carving and traditional rural skills from a master woodsman.
