The New Learning Centre
A New FutureWe are embarking on an exciting project which will mark the beginning of a new era.
Our Ready... Steady... Grow... Initiative will enable us to expand our services, activities and learning opportunities across the age range young to adult. Working with partners in the education, health and third sector we will extend the positive benefits and outcomes of our work even further, reaching more individuals, communities and bringing longer term benefits to our wider society at all levels of learning. We will develop new partnerships with business, consultancy. We will seed and support change-makers and support skills for organisational change. A key component of realising this ambition is to create a New Learning Centre from our existing HQ building to create an exemplar transformation. It will enable The Sustainability Centre to realise its full potential as a beacon for sustainability in the south-east of England and support our influence nationally and internationally. It will house:-
This building transformation and extension will cost £2.2 million. We will use natural and local materials; support local trades and businesses; aim to be a zero waste build - re-using and recycling wherever possible. We will also harness and share the learning opportunities along the way by creating hands-on experiences, workshops and apprenticeships as well as creating tools and tutorials. |

Spring 2019
Our Planning Application was Approved
In spring last year we were delighted to be granted planning permission for our New Learning Centre.
This means we will be able to offer beautiful, new, dedicated classrooms and facilities for schools and our local community. This success will future proof The Sustainability Centre, taking our offerings to the next level.
We will be able to inspire, teach and empower many, many more children, adults and people in local communities and organisations. As a result, these people will be able to make positive changes, live more sustainably and contribute to protecting our planet for future generations.
As you know we are not knocking down the existing building, but are transforming it from an ugly and uninspiring 1970s block into an inspiring flagship project for natural and sustainable building renovation.
“This is a very exciting moment for The Centre and all its supporters. We have developed a clear vision for the future and this is a key event in bringing that vision to life.” said Barry Lamacraft – Chair of the Board of Trustees.
We have been working towards this moment for over two years, and would not have got here without your support. Your donations, large and small, have made this possible, so THANK YOU!
