ABOUT THE COURSE
This two day course will teach you the principles and approach of Forest Kindergarten alongside how-to-deliver a comprehensive Level 3 qualification in Forest Kindergarten: Local Nature Play or a two day non accredited CPD course. By the end of the course you will have the knowledge, skills and resources to run your own training courses for early-year practitioners who want to work in nature with groups of early-year learners on a regular basis all year round.

The training will provide you with all the resources you need to support children’s play, learning and interaction with nature. In particular, how to prepare your learners to:
- To audit a local greenspace for play purposes
- To set up a suitable site
- Prepare children to leave their setting
- To set boundaries with early years children
- To prepare for risks (risk-benefit model)
- To offer relevant exercises to discuss the research on the benefits of playing and learning outdoors
- To offer games and songs to support children with the routines of regular visits to a greenspace
- To offer possible lines of development using naturally available resources and backlink this to the Early Years Curriculum
The purpose of Forest Kindergarten: Local Nature Play training is:
- To enable practitioners in early years settings to see the possibilities and harness the learning and health opportunities of local natural settings.
- To enable practitioners in early years settings to feel and be safe, competent, and confident in taking young children off site to local natural settings on a regular and frequent basis.

THE COURSE WILL GIVE YOU
Confidence, skills and resources to deliver their own training for early years practitioners in Forest Kindergarten: Local Nature Play, including:
- Train the trainer manual (over 76-page document with printable resources) that can accompanied to your training as is, or adapted for your purposes
- Example Forest Kindergarten Policies and Procedures Handbook
- Access to online resources
- All printable resources for activities to deliver the Qualification or a 2-day CPD
entry requirements
- At least two years delivering Forest Kindergarten or Forest School programmes
- Two or more years delivering Training/CPD courses
- Either Early Years Practitioner holding minimum of Level 3 Early Years qualification OR equivalent OR Forest School Leaders/outdoor practitioners with a good understanding of early years practice

ABOUT THE TUTOR
Marina Robb, managing director of Circle of Life Rediscovery CIC, has over 25 years of experience in training professionals and inspiring thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds into the outdoors in both the UK and abroad. Marina led the working group who pioneered the Forest Kindergarten: Local Nature Play qualification in the UK. She provides a deep understanding of effective nature education at all levels and for a range of diverse backgrounds. Marina is a qualified teacher and has studied Environmental Education (MA), Environmental Management (BSc) and Social Research (MSc). She is a leading Forest School endorsed trainer and practitioner. Her aim is to share her knowledge and experience with teachers and others wishing to work outside the classroom. Marina is co-author of ‘Learning with Nature’ and ‘The Essential Guide to Forest School and Nature Pedagogy’.

Louise Hack is a qualified teacher, Forest School Practitioner and Early Years Professional with over 20 years of experience. She has worked in various primary and infant schools in Sussex taking on many different roles including Early Years lead, Specialist Early Years and Literacy leader across the county, Deputy Head and Head of School. Louise has also been a visiting lecturer with the University of Reading and was an Early Years literacy consultant in Windsor and Maidenhead where she worked alongside many schools leading on a range of projects including finding ways to support practitioners with developing their outside areas and access to forest learning. Since 2019, Louise has been self employed and runs her own company “Whoosh Learning.” Exploration, play and engaging the whole body through different sensory experiences underpin the work Louise promotes through Whoosh! She works closely with families to promote creative, imaginative and active experiences for parents and their children to explore and learn together both in the indoor and outdoor environments.
