Creative Forest Bathing & Therapeutic Sound day£95
Time: 10:00 - 16:00 Tutors: Jez Smith, Wendy Turner and Janice Butler 'I absolutely had a very powerful experience with Janice Forest Bathing. It took me to another dimension that I didn’t expect. I almost felt like I was a young child again lost within a magical forest. I couldn’t believe how quick the experience went, I loved it all from opening up my five senses to sitting with my tree.'
'Jez has an incredible ability to articulate the importance of being present during the session to allow the sounds to work their healing magic. His guidance made the experience fully immersive, allowing me to truly connect with the vibrations and find a deep sense of relaxation and healing.' |

ABOUT THE COURSE
Why not try a new way to look after your wellbeing? Join us for a day of Forest Bathing, nature-based art and finishing with a deeply relaxing sound journey session all set in our beautiful woodlands within the South Downs National Park.
10:00 - 13:00: Forest Bathing or Shinrin Yoku is a mindful practice, immersing oneself in the natural environment to promote physical and mental wellbeing in a very gentle way. Slow down, relax and reconnect with ourselves and the rhythms of nature. Moving slowly through the trees, helps us to lower stress levels, boost our immune systems and improve our focus and creativity. Along the way we stop frequently to engage in simple yet meaningful activities, to deepen our connection to nature even further and finishing your experience with a foraged tea.
13:00: Lunch
13:45 - 15:00: Engage in some meditative, mindful drawing practice inspired by nature. Looking carefully at the patterns within nature – leaves, tree-bark, fungi, petals, branches, feathers – we will explore repeated patterns and create our own patterns using pens and card. This session has no specific intended artwork outcomes, more an opportunity to engage with the process of creating using nature as our inspiration, however we will be creating patterns on card that you can take away as a bookmark to remind you of your day.
Whether you have drawn before, you have a regular drawing practice or haven’t picked up a pen or pencil in years, this will be your chance to find a way to calm your mind, find a flow in a creative practice that can help your well-being and observe how pattern-creating can slow you down. Wendy will guide you through some simple pattern creating techniques, allowing for you to explore these and try something new.
15:00 - 16:00: Immerse yourself by listening to the calming sounds of a variety of gongs, singing bowls and gentle percussion in a therapeutic sonic experience for relaxation and wellbeing. Rebalance yourself with sound!
Therapeutic sound can have a wide range of health benefits and also help to boost your immune system by making you feel more relaxed, balanced and connected with yourself.

Wendy Turner: Wendy has been a teacher working primarily with junior-aged pupils for 27 years and created art and engaged in various crafts alongside her career. Always aware of how creating, doodling, drawing can help to quiet a busy mind, she has been creating images and illustrations for years. In the last couple of years Wendy has begun sharing illustrations with others under the banner of Spring In Her Step. She undertakes commissioned illustrations of houses, cafes, wedding venues and other buildings but particularly enjoys creating images inspired by nature getting lost in the flow of pattern using pens and watercolours to create her designs.
Jez Smith: Has been a musician for nearly 40 years, and researching sound for over 20 years. I have been playing gongs and other resonant percussion instruments for 10 years and running pubic sessions for the last 5 years.
