The Sustainability Centre is a fascinating example of the successes - and pitfalls - that can accompany a fundamental change in the way we live our lives. For secondary school pupils, it is a rich source of ideas and information, in these areas:

  • Biomass energy and managing woodlands.
  • Photovoltaic panels and solar water heating.
  • Water saving measures.
  • Sustainable buildings.
  • Green tourism, in our hostel and on our camp site.
  • Managing chalk grasslands and coppice hazel.
  • Food and farming.
  • Green burials, and management of the new woodland.

Curriculum links to topics in Geography, Science, Design & Technology, ICT and Citizenship also make this trip worthwhile. A 1.5 hour visit can give a good overview of our project. Please contact for further information if you would like to arrange a day programme or overnight stay.
