Green Fair 2010

Hampshire Green Fair at the Sustainability Centre

Sunday 9th May 2010, Adults £4 Children £2 (under 5s free)

The Hampshire Green Fair is set to expect record attendance this year, placing itself as the local green event of the summer. Following on from successes last year, the Green Fair promises to be a fun-filled and informative day out for the whole family.

The Sustainability Centre event organisers aim for the day to be jam-packed with inspirational ideas for simple ways to a greener, more sustainable future.

The Centre's main paddock will be lined with stalls selling ethically sourced goods and local produce. There will be hands-on displays of practical crafts – rag-rug making, green woodworking and willow-weaving to name a few, as well as information on green building techniques. Learn how to make your own home a healthier, greener, more efficient place, with working demonstrations of renewable energy in action

The Green Fair is a great opportunity to get involved with local groups taking real positive steps to ensure a healthier, brighter planet for us all. Meet the, Hampshire Conservation Volunteers, Petersfield Beekeepers and Winchester Action on Climate Change, amongst many others!

The GreenShare marquee is a new feature this year, offering a series of talks and discussions on green issues concerning local residents and the wider community. Take the opportunity to bring your questions to the debate!

Centre Manager Mary Lewis says: "Being green needn't all be about hard work and sacrifices. We believe that sustainability should be colourful and fun, it should be about getting involved, discovering your local community and taking pride in your local environment"

Mary goes on to say "The Sustainability Centre is starting to become a real hub for the local community, these are truly exciting times and we have an unprecedented level of interest from people of all walks of life. We exist to provide education on all aspects of sustainable living, and act as a venue for others to explore green ideas and projects.

"The Centre is entirely self-funding, supporting itself through various activities including our natural burial site, accommodation and camping. We also host other green businesses such as Permaculture Magazine and Permanent Publications with their fascinating bookshop. The Green Fair gives us an opportunity to invite you along, see the work we do and hopefully inspire you to get involved"
