Woodland Classroom

The Sustainability Centre has recently received a generous grant from the Mamie Mollan Trust in order to improve our facilities for education. With this funding we plan to build a Woodland Classroom, which will improve our capacity to educate, enable and inspire people of all ages about sustainability.

Ben Law, the eminent woodsman of Grand Designs notoriety is going to build the classroom. It will have a clay floor, a roundwood frame, wooden shingle roof and a surrounding veranda. Part of the classroom will be dug into the ground and opposite there will be more of those stunning vistas that reach to the Solent on a clear day.

We have places for four trainees to work alongside Ben on this project. Contact Raina on courses@sustainability-centre.org to find out more.

Or why not join us for the 'Week of Clay' beginning 28th June to learn about Rumford fireplace construction, cordwood wall building and adobe floor construction? The course will be taught by Ben Law and will work on the floor, fireplace and cordwood walls of the Woodland Classroom.
